My step-mom Marta moved to Portland, OR a few years ago to be closer to her daughters and grandkids. She's been the one to come down each year to visit, but this summer her daughters and I decided to surprise her on her birthday with a visit from me and baby Jack! This was Jack's first plane ride and my first time going solo with a baby!
Here baby Jack waits patiently for his plane to board.
I dont' have any pics on the plane because I didn't have a free hand..but he was AWESOME! He slept while we were boarding and I had to wake him up to give him a bottle for take off. He played on the plane, smiled at all the ladies and was just PERFECT!
We traveled to Portland during the 3 days a year that they actually get hot weather. It was 99 when we landed - so we went to have lunch on the water. My step-sister Michelle with baby J.
Michelle is going to email me the video of Marta walking in and seeing Baby Jack and I. I thought she was going to have a heart attack! It was so fun being the surprise guests and I'm glad we did not have to jump out of a cake. Baby Jack slept great in his pak-n-play...including a 2 hour nap on Saturday after the Farmers Market in Hillsboro.

On the return trip...baby Jack was super tired and just could not get comfy. So I did lots to entertain him, but when we started our decent, he wanted nothing to do with the bottle and he LOST IT. So I had a solid 5-10 minutes (felt like an hour) of big time crying until he finally gave up and passed out. We survived...and I actually think we should travel again soon!

Thanks Tyke and Heather for the travel car seat - worked like a charm!
