Boston

Jack and I spent a few fantastic days in Boston and tried to cram in as much as possible! Of course, we went to see The Sox play at Fenway. Even though we had some rain, it was still such an amazing night.
The park is so small that you feel like you are right on the field no matter where you are. I think Jack actually had a moment of silence when he walked out into the stadium.
Outside the park they have the street closed off and you can buy stuff from the vendors etc. Even in the rain - there was a lot of action out there. And I think literally every single person there was wearing Sox gear.
The game was called in the 6th inning because of rain. Our seats were under the grand stand, so we were nice and dry...and a little bummed that we had to leave. And that is really not how I usually feel about leaving a ball game a little early.
The next day we got our coffee and and our umbrellas and hit The Freedom Trail. It's a 3 mile tour thru Boston that takes you to all of the historic sites in the city, including Paul Revere's house, Sam Adams grave (where Jack of course bumped into some guy who went to SI because Jack was wearing an SI shirt - shocker), the site of the Boston Massacre, Fanuel Hall and thru tons of great neighborhoods in the city.
The best part is that the entire trail is marked by this red line. It's genius!
This red line came in very handy. After we had a few drinks and still wanted to hit up some local taverns that we had seen along the way, all we had to do was follow this red line! I think every major city could use this system. Damn hills in SF! (My shoes were very comfy and left zero blisters in case you are wondering).
You would never know it from this picture, but this statue of Ben Franklin is in a courtyard with this beautiful historic building that is now home to a Ruth Chris Steakhouse. Ah progress.

This monument stands at the site of the battle of Bunker Hill. You can climb 299 steps to the top. And we did. I'll let you take a guess at how it felt to be inside that thing when it's drizzling outside but still over 70 degrees. Sticky.

After cleaning ourselves up from a long, hard day on the Freedom Trail...we followed it right back to the North End or the North Beach of Boston. It stopped raining and the sun came out so all of the shops and restaurants opened up to the street.

I'll stop here with the pictures. All that happens next is Jack and I stuffing our faces and then letting the Freedom Trail drag us to more bars and eventually a cigar bar where we ended up at 2am.  That Freedom Trail is a bad influence.
Thanks to Grandma and Nonno for taking care of Brooke while we were gone!!! She didn't even miss us :-)
