Great Expectations

Yep. Still pregnant. I think it feels longer than it's really been because my expectations have been altered along the way. When I had contractions at 32 weeks, my doctor just wanted me to make it to 37. I had to work from home and could not exercise, so my expectation was that if I were to work out....I would some how burst into labor. So when I made it to 37 weeks - my doctor was happy, I was happy and she said go on a walk...have this baby whenever he's ready to come. So my expectation was that after a few good walks around Lake Merrit - I would have this baby. No dice.

Along the way, they measure the baby and had moved my due date from March 17th to March 9th - so when that date came and went - I felt like I had gone over my due date. But tricky Kaiser keeps your original due date on your chart and that is the one they use to determine when you are truly due. And Kaiser does not induce until 41 weeks! Which I completely agree with (for other women of course). So March 25th is the soonest that they will schedule me. My doctor is great and I think she too is ready for me to have this baby!

So I am re-setting my expectations to March 25th. Although I'm a little ticked that I started my maternity leave, at least I have a couple of weeks to take walks, get ready and try to rest.

Also - this extra time has allowed me to finally convince Brooke to wear her Big Sister PJ's that Aunty Joan gave her. I had her close her eyes and then I tricked her and put the shirt on. There were a couple of quick tears and then she looked up and announced "I really like it Mama". We've been sleeping in them the last 2 nights!
